Major James H. Howard of St. Louis is identified as the One Man air force, the sole American fighter who tangled with 30 Nazi fighters while escorting bombers. He reportedly shot down two enemy planes, with two probables and two damaged.
Abramowicz a 48 year old Polish coal miner, former common law husband of murdered Mrs Weronica Zahorejko, is remanded in custody at Lethbridge provincial jail awaiting a preliminary hearing in Coleman on the charge of murdering his former partner. A coroner's inquest is to be opened at Coleman tonight with Abramowicz likely to testify as evidence is presented.

Total revenue plus interest to date reaches 172,158,408 with 139,082,042 contributed by employers and employees and 27,816,408 by the Dominion government. December benefits paid totaled 51,752, and two year total benefits through December 31 amount to 1,278,915,87.

Allied forces report heavy air action in New Guinea and the Admiralty Islands. In three days at Rabaul and surrounding waters, more than 60 Japanese fighters were engaged with 24 shot down and several ships sunk or damaged.
