STRAKER, IVIANAGER, To Whom please addrasg all communications. Winnipeg, Man., Jan. 14.-Disclosures of an interesting, not to say startling nature, were the order at the second session this morning o the Royal Commission, -tthich is investigating the escape o5 the notorious Krafchenko. Perhaps the most sensational feature brought out was the statement of Deputy Chief Newton that Constable Reid, one of the guards held up in the cell by the bandit was in the habit.ol associating with people of disreputable character. He had learned that Re d and another constable were living with undesirable people. This information has been furnished by the morality depattmer.t. The deputy also stated that Reid was familiar with Percy Hagel, counsel for the prisoner, and had been seen in the company of Mr. Hagel and an ex-pugilist going to the Empress Theatre. Evidence was brought out to show that J-Crafehenko had received much consideration at the hands of the police. He had all his meals brought in, they of course, being examined ; permission was given a barber to come I in and .shave him from time to time, latterly on the day before his escape, and one of the reasons why he was placed in the old Ititchen, according to Deputy Chief Newton, was in order that he might be given exercise without being taken out of h's cell. The evidence went to show that Reid waB almost constantly with the prisoner since his confinement except when he was off duty. This also applied to Constable Flower.
