Julian Garrett of Western Pipelines said the pipeline plan would move 1.3 million tons of coal in energy terms annually, based on coal heat values. He projected piping 26 billion cubic feet yearly to 490,000 Saskatchewan and Manitoba customers and quoted gas prices around 109 dollars per thousand cubic feet in Winnipeg, with Calgary gas at 25 cents per thousand cubic feet after 4,000 feet. A rival project expected Pacific coast prices near 40 cents per thousand cubic feet. Garrett urged gas as primary consideration.
