Edmonton reports Alberta liquor prices will rise by up to 10 cents a bottle on February 1 with most domestic spirits and wines up five cents. Some imported wines fall by nickel on cheaper imports and up to 50 cents on pricier varieties while scotch climbs five to ten cents. Imported beer increases by five cents per bottle. Spokeswoman Norma Wintringham cites higher transport costs and exchange rate fluctuations.

Washington AP reports a Soviet spy satellite Cosmos 1402 with a nuclear powered radar is behaving erratically and may reenter the atmosphere late this month.
