TAIPEI Formosa Dec 16 An uprising in far west Sikang province threatens Nationalist plans to use the retreat as a base for guerrilla warfare against the Reds. Troops in Szechwang are said to have joined Sikang rebels and attacked royal Nationalist forces around Chengtu, which was abandoned as a refugee capital. The mutineers were reportedly crushed while the government struggles to restore order as Gen Hu Tsung Nan regrouped his 400000-man army in southwest Szechwan to check the Red drive on Chengtu and Yunnan.
