The Lethbridge Flying Club hosts a Dec 31 gathering at Xenson Field for members and guests. Plans are led by Mr Norman Hewitt with DJs and festive activities as pilots recount flights and share tales from the day while others travel to Calgary, Vancouver, and beyond for visits and celebrations.
Mr and Mrs O B Lasser of Chin announce the engagement of their eldest daughter Dorothy Mul dred to Roy P Nelson son of Mr and Mrs J Nelson of Wrenth am The marriage is set for January 3.
Two weddings are reported from Alberta. Catherine McKellar of Vulcan married Glen Carson McKay at Knox United Church Calgary in a silver satin gown with orange bloom headdress. Ida Ruth Best of Stavely wed Albert Hahn at Immanuel Lutheran church Stavely in a quiet ceremony. The couples plan to reside in Vulcan district and Bravely respectively. An Anglican service is noted at Coutts Warner area with Holy Eucharist and sermon at St Andrew's Warner and Sunday School in Coutts.
Dorma Mildred Fritz daughter of Nobleford residents married Malcolm Donald Campbell son of Nebletod residents at Southminster United Church Lethbridge on Nov 92nd at 2 pm Rev Murchmer officiated 75 guests attended a buffet lunch reception at the brides parents home and a dance at Newlands Community Hall the couple departed for Calgary and vacation plans follow. Mr and Mrs William Persley, pictured above by Gross, were wed November 27 at Southmaster United Church in Lethbridge. The bride, formerly Miss Elisabeth Brandies of Taber, is now Mrs Persley, daughter of Mr and Mrs Genesi of Lethbridge. The couple plan to reside in the city.
The coach has less wood in its bodywork than other Royal Mews coaches and is less ornate than the Irish State Coach. Once owned by a Lord Mayor of Dublin, it was admired and bought by Queen Victoria during a 1852 Ireland visit. Built in 1761, it weighs four tons and is unsuitable for a trotting procession. It is normally used by the King for the opening of Parliament.
