A major fire gutted the Becker Block on Second Street in Medicine Hat destroying a four story brick structure. Fire crews from the city airport and internment camp aided the local department as 36 residents in suites were believed safe though two remained unaccounted for. One resident jumped from the third floor to escape and broke an ankle, while a mother and two children were rescued from a front suite. Origin of the fire was not yet known as reports continued.

Sgt. William McKay of Nova Scotia testified at the war crimes trial of S.S. Maj-Gen Kurt Meyer in Germany.
