Newfoundland Joins Canada Under Terms Of Union

Ottawa December 11 Terms of union for Newfoundland with Canada set to take effect March 31 1949 pending approvals. Newfoundland will be a Canadian province with six senate seats seven MPs and seven electoral districts. The provincial constitution prior to 1934 will be revived on union with a lieutenant governor and executive council governing until a provincial legislature convenes. The legislative council will not be reestablished immediately. Franchise extended to all female British subjects aged 21 and over. Education provision grants public funds to denominational schools and colleges on nondiscriminatory terms while preserving existing denominational rights. Page 14 continues.
