SIOUX LOOKOUT Ont Dec 9 A two storey 20 room hotel burned to the ground early today Two men the night clerk and a guest were reported missing as the fire died Hotel proprietor A T Spence identified the missing as clerk Harry Jones about 65 and a man whose surname was Young Jones was a real hero Spence said He went from room to room arousing all the guests MAKE ESCAPE The hotel wooden frame with brick siding was about three quarters full when the fire broke out at 430 am Spence said With his wife and their three children he just managed to get out in the nick of time He awakened Young who had been employed as a bush worker at a nearby camp and Young told him he was all right and able to reach safety on his own

Passenger and Freight Collision Near Toronto
A head on crash between a Vancouver to Toronto passenger train and a CN freight train eight miles east of Toronto injured 12 passengers and six railway men. John Leslie of Montreal retired vice-president of finance and treasurer for the Canadian Pacific Railway died at his home in Montreal Thursday in his 89th year. Funeral services are set for Saturday morning at Dominion-Douglas church Westmount. Leslie began as a clerk with the Toronto Grey Bruce Railway before joining CPR and rising to the top financial post. His son Eric Leslie is now vice-president and comptroller of CPR in Montreal, a position his father held for two years starting in 1926.
