ANILA Aug 24 A P Allied occupation forces plan to extend control from Tokyo to Kyushu by Sept 1 four days after Gen MacArthur lands near Tokyo. The Tokyo government and imperial headquarters announced typhoon disruptions to landings and said airborne units would reach Kanoya on Sept 1 with main forces landing near Takasu Sept 2. Japan asked MacArthur to clarify six surrender text phrases and reported looting and shootings in Manchuria Inner Mongolia and north Korea.

Manila Aug 24 VP MacArthur announced an advanced occupation party would land in Japan Sunday to pave the way for main forces arriving two days later.
