Alberta Social Credit Sweeps To Power In Alberta Vote

Alberta's Social Credit government claimed a sweeping return with a higher turnout than 1944. With 251,499 votes counted from 2,344 of 2,762 precincts, indications pointed to stronger support though final totals may not reach 1910’s peak. Remaining counts will determine final percentage.

Party Leaders Statements After Alberta Election

Premier Manning thanked supporters for the Social Credit sweep in Alberta's 11th general election. He praised the vote of confidence and pledged a four-year program to extend social justice economic security and individual freedom. Liberal leader Preager praised Manning's ability to keep voter confidence and noted the party would build for future contests. Alberta CCF leader Elmer Roper expressed complete amazement at the election results and the power plebiscite.

Plebiscite Result Close in Alberta Power Vote
