Assistant Commissioner A T Belcher leaves Edmonton to head RCMP in British Columbia as RCMP takes over policing from the B C provincial police on August 15. Belcher, 47, has led E Division from Edmonton after arriving in 1947 from Vancouver. He is succeeded in Edmonton by Superintendent Samuel Bullard.
The United States Seventh Fleet reports navy and marine planes inflicted heavy damage on North Korean targets in two days of attacks. Factories warehouses and transport plants in Inchon were struck with 500 and 1000 pound bombs, with operations extending to Waegwan and even Seouls bridge directly hit by a 1000 pound bomb.
