Recruiting Opens Sept for All Three Services

Ottawa August 3 Def ence minister Claxton announced a national recruiting drive starting September 1 for active and reserve forces across the three services. No target set for regulars, but all qualified applicants will be accepted. He will open the Royal Military College Kingston on September 20 and Royal Roads College in British Columbia on the same date as tri service training grounds. The first RMLC class will be 100 cadets from 250 applicants. Cadets will join university cadets in camps during summers to fuse university and service training for higher officers. Employers praised cooperation re summer training. 2,500 letters sent to business groups. Navy reservists training on nine ships, 1,700, plus 900 COIC university students, and 7,500 sea cadets at camp.
