Axis Ships Sunk Or Hit Since April 1

The joint Navy and RAF campaign since April 1 has sunk or seriously damaged at least 37 Axis ships. Eight Italian destroyers were sunk or captured. 20 ships fallen in the Mediterranean Adriatic and Red Seas, and 17 in the North Sea and German harbors. Continued on page five.

British right wing forces beat Germans near Katerina

The Athens radio reported that British right wing troops north of Katerina Greece forced the Germans back with heavy losses in fierce fighting. Also reported were a Canadian soldier killed in a London raid and the evacuation of Bremen being accelerated after RAF raids. Four U.S. cargo ships will be transferred to Great Britain under the Lend-Lease act. Camrose hosts hundreds of 21 year old recruits for the second month of compulsory training. A U.S. naval committee approved a 25 day cooling off period before strikes at defence plants and froze open and closed shop agreements.
