Hon. James A. Glen former speaker of Canada's House of Commons continues to recover from a heart attack. He is hospitalized at a naval hospital where doctors report he is comfortable and improving considerably.
The former Ethel du Pont Roosevelt flew into Reno with an assumed name to establish divorce residence in Washoe Valley. She must reside six weeks in Nevada before filing. Her attorney confirms plans as Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. avoids comment. this follows a recent public career move by his father. Continued on page 23.
The Medicine Hat Liberal convention chose Brooks rancher and sportsman Harry Weiner as the party's candidate for the federal election. The first ballot secured a 4-1 margin amid a large turnout of supporters arriving in a long caravan. Local ministers and officials spoke as hundreds filled the Empress theatre, with standing room only.
Shirley Jane Zeigenhagel, 20 months, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Zeigenhagel of the Pashley district, drowned in a slough near their Medicine Hat area home. A daylight robbery at the Alberta Treasury Branch in Bowden sees about 3500 dollars in assorted bills stolen from a rear window entry while staff were out.
