Economists Predict End Of Inflationary Period In Canada
Ottawa economists state that if crops are good and no major industrial shocks occur the inflationary phase may be over though the downtrend is not yet evident. The cost of living index rose to a peak of 1508, yet the increase was unusually small. Wholesale prices fell in February for the first time in over a year, supporting the view that inflation is cooling.

Local stores report no increases yet in food prices after a 21 percent freight rate boost took effect on April 7. Early signals suggest the cost of living will rise little. it may take a week or two for changes to show. Reunion planned for No 8 ex-RCAF personnel
More than 150 former No 8 Bombing and Gunnery School members will meet in Lethbridge on Saturday for a first postwar gathering since 1945. Taber Resident Is Found Dead Near Taber
Gesse Marshall Stevens, 79, of Taber, was found hanging at his home half a mile east of Taber on Thursday afternoon by RCMP. RCMP in Lethbridge said he died by suicide. A widow er and former Whitla resident, Stevens moved to Taber nine years ago. The body was taken to Patterson undertaking parlors in Medicine Hat. Coroner Dr A Hamman said an inquest is necessary.

Alexander McKenzie Buried in Soldiers' Plot
Funeral services for Alexander McKenzie ex serviceman of World War II were held in Christensen Brothers chapel on Thursday April 7 with Rev W Rossbach officiating. Lethbridge Army Navy and Air Force Veterans Association and local amateur boxers attended. Pallbearers were J Emery R T Smith A Redshaw A Stark W McKenna L Miklos. He came to Canada 19 years ago enlisted in Calgary in 1939 and served with the Calgary Highlanders overseas returning to Lethbridge in 1945. He trained local amateur boxers for provincial and Dominion tournaments and helped with the Alberta tournament in Edmonton last week. He is survived by brother John McKenzie of 515A Seventh Street South. Interment was in the Soldiers' Plot Mountain View Cemetery.
