Mississippi flood reaches Minneapolis water works

The Mississippi River rose above flood stage at Minneapolis causing seepage into the city water works basement. Pumps remove over 2060 gallons per minute while crews use sandbags. Left Hand Corner remembers Hugo Hirst founder of General Electric

The obituary recalls ORD HIRST born in Munich who moved to London over 60 years ago. He studied electricity and founded a shop that made early electrical devices. Crash kills six airmen in Avon Park training crash

Avon Park Florida April 6 six United States army airmen were killed when their medium bomber crashed during a routine training flight near here there were no survivors the crash was announced Monday and the cause was under investigation authorities said none of the crew survived the accident occurred on a routine training mission near Avon Park Florida.
