Lt. Gen. Sir Thomas Blamey leads Australian and American ground forces under Gen. Douglas MacArthur in the Southwest Pacific campaign. The 58-year-old Anzac veteran has fought across many theatres, planning offensives and directing troops in Greece and Crete, now facing a home‑defense drive in the largest campaign of his long military career.
Senator Joe Mahoney claimed Standard Oil Co faced dual loyalties due to cartel ties with the German dye trust.
