Water Purification Method From Toronto Health Bulletin
A June Toronto Health Bulletin article outlines a lime chlorine purification method for summer resort use. It recommends dissolving a level teaspoonful of chloride of lime in a teacap of water, diluting with three cupfuls of water, and storing in a stoppered bottle. A teaspoonful of this stock added to two gallon pails destroys typhoid and dysentery bacilli within ten minutes, rendering the water safe to drink. The process, developed by Dr. Nasmith and Dr. Graham, is widely used to prevent waterborne infection.
