Obituary: William John Gregory Dies at Jamestown
William John Gregory died at Jamestown on January 12. He was born January 24, 1860, in Springton and was a wheelwright by trade. He married twice first to Miss Jones in 1898 then to Miss Spackman. he farmed in Tenar Pad before moving to Jamestown. Survived by his widow, one daughter Mrs I Averys of Guairaithing, West Australia, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. one son predeceased in 1917.

An event held by the Canowie Belt organization featured a variety show with musical numbers and readings. Performers included Mr and Mrs N Jamieson and Mrs Middleton, with an original competition by Mev fon Fanson stirring the crowd before a lively supper.
Community honors Sergeant Manson at Belalie North Memorial Hall
A large Belalie North crowd gathered on May 27 to honor Sergeant Manson on his eleventh attempt to gain admittance to the IF. Present were Mr. Bray who spoke of Manson’s true spirit and wished him well, with a brush and leather goods set, and Mrs. F Cummings awarding a parcel of comforts. The evening featured a musical program, supper, and dancing, followed by songs of Auld Lang Syne and He’s a Jolly Good Fellow. A Red Cross dance in Elvis Hall raised funds with Miss Red Cross and Miss Prisoner of War aiding. Secretary Mrs. Hora Comings resigned. new secretary Miss Sean Smayt was appointed. The Helulie Naeth Soldiers Mortal Mall held a canal meeting June 7 electing officers, with voluntary subscriptions continuing due to petrol restrictions.
