Generous rate increases on War Savings Certificates maturing this year persuade savers to leave them with banks for automatic value growth. The advice promotes buying new five year certificates, cashable anytime, with annual increases tax free, and notes £250 Savings Certificates available to all.
In a Tuesday night show of improved play, Youth Club edged Khaki 10–8 to lead premiership standings. Football White defeated Railways 17–12 with Abbott scoring 19 for Football and Mahoney finishing strong for Khaki. Black beat RSL Green 18–14 as Ct led with 11 and Rosie 4 for Black while O’Leary and Williams added key scores for RSL Green.

Payments to be distributed from June 23 bringing hagged wheat to 5 10 per bushel and bulk wheat to 5 7 per bushel, both less freight. Board reports 70 million of 18 million carryover already sold, with 294 million for local use and 404 million for export. Weather still fine in most states though Victoria needs rain.

Runner-up Reconnaisance earned £8 plus £4/4/0 added money with trophies. Luncheon and a well attended ball followed in the Institute, with officials praised for a smooth day of sport.
