The Crane Creek picnic was a great success with over $60 net after expenses. Excavation for the church manse is underway and the framework will start next week, bringing the project closer to reality. Mr F C Marshall is busy making alterations to his house.
The Wolfe Red Cross drive kicked off June 12 with ideal weather and a packed program. A fierce baseball battle ended 29 to 9 as Wolfe defeated Traynor, while raffles, auctions, and a rooster-chase raised funds. The day netted 281.25 for the Red Cross with community support from surrounding towns and notable donors.
Altogether for Last Drive Canada plans a nationwide manpower inventory on Saturday June 22. All persons 16 years and over must register and declare useful kinds of work. Registration will guide war policy and maximize production and energy in the nation’s effort.
A meeting decided to hold the annual Red Cross sports on Thursday July 4 with baseball pony and auto races children’s races and several novelty events plus a dance to close the day. A general committee meeting will be held Monday evening for final arrangements and posters will announce full particulars.
