Queen Mary turns fifty on May 26, celebrated for her role as queen consort of Great Britain Ireland and Empress of India. Since 1910 she has led war activities including the Queen Mary Needlework Guild and visits to field hospitals while promoting English industries and social causes.
Private F J Whiting reports the ten mile front sees greater casualties than any Western front point, surpassing Verdun. Bodies are moved to less encumbered sites as trenches remain held by the British a year on. Severe filth has contaminated wells, forcing water to be hauled from the rear.

Peter Lienweber died Tuesday at his home seven miles from town after a two year heart illness. He was an early pioneer of the district and is mourned by his wife, three sons, and five daughters. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Catholic church.
His Honour the Lieut Governor proclaims Friday June 80 a holiday in all schools to allow meetings on educational issues. Initiated by Hon. Walter Scott and endorsed by the Opposition, a pamphlet titled Saskatchewan's Great Campaign for Better Schools has reached over 23 000 people. Pte. Gamble of the 96th Battalion visits town this week.
