Wolfe junior Red Cross held a schoolhouse social and dance Friday evening netting 54 dollars. A rooster raffle contributed 22 dollars. Mr and Mrs Frank Duff of Davidson Sask are visiting Mr and Mrs T R Stewart. Prof and Mrs Hardy returned to Saskatoon after a two weeks visit with the Stewarts.
Prof Swanson notes in The Outlook in the West that Saskatchewan farmers extended acreage with patriotic motives. At a Landis meeting held August 4 to mark four years since the war began, farmers pledged to continue the struggle to victory despite winter hardship, showing notable patriotism from the plain dwellers.
About 16,000 Canadian troops have just landed in England with units drawn from several Saskatchewan regiments joining the Allied force. The arrival strengthens the push on the European front as these reinforcements proceed to training and deployment locations.
