Announcement from Batamia April 8 1814 extends the 9 February 1814 Lombard Bank note exchange rules to all Lombard Bank notes and to circulating Government Certificates. Applications for Colonial Produce certificates should be made to the Sub-Treasurer to obtain stores from warehouses. Exchange applications remain with the Bank.
A government order directs that duties collected at Batavia be levied in specie from the present date, citing the general Customhouse Regulations of 29 November. The instruction, signed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, notes uniform rates across ports and reinforces specie payments.
The Lieutenant Governor directs that from the 15th instant no further quantity of Paper Currency shall be circulated on loan. The measure aims to balance the currency in circulation with existing demands and to maintain solvency and official order.
