TOKIO Thursday. Ti Ja says negotiations with Australia will be lengthy due to divergent views. Japan is expected to reject Australia’s partial reduction proposal on cloth and textiles and the abolition of high duties, in exchange for purchasing wool of equivalent value.

Melbourne reports the cancellation of Gosford dog racing license by New South Wales Chief Secretary Giraffey. He refused to state reasons but said the action was wise and justified after a course inspection and review of the club’s books.
The Financial Relief Bill passed House stages and promises pensions, maternity allowances, public servant salaries, and ministerial and MP allowances. Victorian United Australia members Street and Fiskin say they will not accept raises due to constituents. Senate approval expected today with increases due next week for pensioners and public servants.
In the six months ended June the number of marriages in New South Wales reached 11511 the highest half-year total ever recorded in the state. The youngest groom was 15 years old and the youngest bride 14.
Jockey Jack Pratt of Sydney who died recently left an estate of 3000 pounds consisting of life insurance and a house. By his will he left 2000 pounds to his fiancée Miss Hazel Luscombe, who died six weeks before him. The remainder was divided in equal shares among Pratt’s family members.
