A violent rainstorm swept Lavington near Albury, five inches fell in minutes flooding low areas and damaging orchards. Bungamora Creek overflowed, Albury Creek burst its banks and Kiowa Street became impassable. Cars were stranded and Albury itself reported no rain.
The New Guard proposes that His Majesty appoint one of his sons as the next Governor General of Australia with the cooperation of royalist bodies in presenting the petition.
City wheat prices eased slightly as buyers hesitated to bid beyond 27 on July basis. Sellers quoted 27 to 28 for mid July lots with limited inquiry for bagged wheat. Sydney and Liverpool markets also eased with Western Australia cargoes around 24 to 25 per quarter.

William Ellerman, a stock and station agent, was swept from his car on Mopphry Road into Garabaldi Creek during a torrent last night. He was rescued 400 yards downstream by local mailman Richard Ashton. Ellerman said he does not remember how he escaped or stayed afloat.
Dissatisfied traffic officers allegedly form a breakaway organisation from the Railway and Tramway Salaried Officers Association. Originating at Worris Creek, the move accuses the main body of neglecting traffic officers and seeks to avoid political entanglements after a conference decision.

The Printing Industry Employees' Union board decided to discontinue the unemployment levy. From 1929 to November 3 this year the union paid unemployed members £40.76, with employed members contributing just over £38,000.
Lord Ponsonby declared there is one law for the rich and another for the poor in the Lords amid the second reading of the Incitement Disaffection Bill. The Chancellor of the Exchequer approves an Immediate Commonwealth issue to refund maturing Australian loans from December to May. The Australian High Commissioner said the loans would be underwritten and open for cash applications, with conversion closes around November 16. The operation totals 4,601,805 pounds with annual interest of 0.882 percent, part of Mr Bruce’s conversions and redemptions in London reaching 124,000,000 pounds.

Mrs Elizabeth Warwick aged 87 or 88 died at her Medore Street residence after a long life as a prominent resident of Tingha and Inverell. Shenative of Scone came to Tingha in youth with parents Thorne lived there before moving to Inverell. She was predeceased by her husband by 27 years and by three daughters and three sons. Survived by two daughters and four sons, 94 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Funeral was held Saturday at the Church of England cemetery section with Rev E H Strummer officiating. In the House of Commons Dominions Secretary J Thomas confirms Australia dairy goods are sold cheaper in London. He states the policy extends beyond Australia and that government will not pursue formal representations to Canberra.
