John D. Rockefeller senior dies in Daytona Beach Florida. He was about 97 years old and one of the wealthiest men, famed for major public benefactions totaling large sums. The death followed a morning collapse diagnosed as heart muscle hardening. no final message was left.
Sydney reports Bishop Moyes of Armidale criticized the Duke of Windsor spokesman Hermann Rog éra for suggesting no Church of England clergyman would officiate at the forthcoming royal wedding. Katoomba railway station night officer Charlies Melville was seriously injured when two bullocks escaped from a truck and charged him. He was thrown against a fence, suffering broken ribs and a spinal injury.
Driver Frank Carette, 30, died and three others were injured when a large touring car mounted an embankment near Liverpool last night. The nearside wheels ran over the bank for about four yards before the vehicle descended and was wrecked.
J C Harpley died when his car struck a fence near the cemetery and burst into flames. He was reportedly seized by a heart attack while driving. The Harpley family previously suffered the drowning deaths of two young girls months earlier.
