Sydney reports on Health Minister W M Hughes criticizing Langs policy promises. Hughes says if Lang keeps his pledges he deserves re election and (figuratively) silver medals. he notes Lang failed before and became a republicanist. He calls Lang a liar and criticizes his breadline rhetoric.
The Davis Cup draw for the Australia versus New Zealand tie lists Crawford facing Andrews in the opening match on Saturday at 2:40 p.m. followed by McGrath against Stedman. Wethers to 20/2, ewes 17/4, hoggets 20/10, lambs to TH Cattle yarded 4,330 head in medium condition and cheaper. Prime cattle seen dear slight changes with bullocks to £11, cows £7/4, venters £1/14.
Lee Tung, an elderly Chinese resident of Ultimo, was attacked by two men and a woman near his home last night. He was struck with an empty bottle, suffering probable fractured jaw, extensive wounds, and the loss of four teeth. He was found unconscious later and robbed of about £5.
An inquest opened into the death of Paul Drasdoff, a Frussian storekeeper murdered on September 1 last year. Leslie George Warburton, from Long Bay Gal, was brought to court. Mrs. Drasdoff identified Warburton in a police line-up as most like the man with a revolver seen the night of the crime. The case continues with further testimony and evidence to follow.
