Inverell Drover's Permit Appeal Quashes Conviction
Judge Clancy at Inverell Court of Quarter Sessions on 20th inst quashed a drover Nelson Steiger's conviction for failing to produce a sheep travel permit. The decision held that where sheep not described on a permit are obviously picked up or misdescribed a drover may not be liable if those sheep were unintentionally included in the mob. The appeal noted that the drover discharged the onus by admissions and the conviction was set aside.
