The Fire and Accident Underwriters Association members in Victoria New South Wales South Australia and Western Australia will revise their motor car policy premiums from August 1. The new rates will be announced next week.
At a Bellbird crossing in the Crssnack district a coal train and a sedan collided as seven miners en route to work were aboard. Stanley Stanmere and Roy Smith died. Seven others were seriously hurt, two in critical condition. One victim suffered severe lower body injuries including missing leg and severed fingers.
Geell Podesta, a taxi driver, was hired by two men to drive from the city to Balmain. After arrival one attacker demanded money, struck him in the forehead with a heavy instrument, and both assailants fled. Podesta was admitted to hospital for stitches.
Mrs. Holgate of Church Road Lytham was attacked by a patient released on short leave from the Mental Institution. She suffered a fractured skull and injuries to her hand and wrist.
