Sydney reports a tense Legislative Assembly session where Government whip Cahill gagged the opposition after four minutes of speaking. Mr. Bavin’s motion censuring Ms Lang was defeated 49 to 0. Bavin called Langs policy ruinous and morally disgraceful, accusing her of sullying Australia and New South Wales.
Clifton Arthur Luke, named by the Crown in a fraud case involving large sums tied to a trust, did not appear for the resumption of his trial at the Quarter Sessions. He had been released on bail. His Honor ordered a warrant for the defendant's arrest, stating his nonappearance was more than discourtesy.
