Sydney reports a well-informed political and financial authority warns New South Wales faces a critical financial position with funds in Treasury only enough to meet salaries and essential services for about one month.
Sydney Monday night at Pitt Street Congregational Church Rev T E Ruth condemned the State Government for default and repudiation claiming political police power, calling the Vagrancy Act oppressive and urging New South Wales to restore British honesty in government.
Archbishop Sheehan urged Roman Catholic scouts and cubs present at St Marys Cathedral to oppose war. He warned a future war could unleash chemical weapons and disease, with cities emptied by incendiaries and survivors gasped or struck by disease. He called some admired men “gangsters and criminals” fit for prison.
Monday morning at Arch erfield aerodrome in heavy fog T H McDonald piloting a Gipsy Moth crashed into a fence beside the hangar. The aircraft was practically wrecked but McDonald and a companion escaped with only a severe shaking.
In a Fremantle area accident near Fremantle two men died when a motorcyclist believed to be Alfred Fick struck walker Russell Martin. Fick, 43, was riding downhill when the crash occurred.
