Anecdotes and Folk Tales From Bristol and Bojepore
A dated fragment recounts December 28 1787 with a man living partly in betting lodgings and partly on early savings. Bristol performers hosted a benefit, aided by many friends, and one night he delivered a prologue. An officer recalls a Bojepore horse theft during a tent encampment, the thief’s clever escape and return, and his method of climbing the horse and evading ropes before mounting.
