Comic farce at Gretna Green features Sir Charles and allies
The scene shows Sir Charles and Lady Danvers after a precipitate Scottish marriage. Miss Union guides a comic plot with Mr. Orville as a money lender, Mrs. Seymour torn by affection, and Ap Hazard delivering eccentric humor. The drama mocks Shakespearean burlesques, Chaucer adoration, and last year’s Shakespearean frauds with lively stage business and witty dialogue.
