Master Collapses At Goroke Postmaster Dies In Town

Residents of Goroke and district mourn the death of a 52 year old former postmaster who collapsed after speaking with his daughter Joyce. Born at Timara, he served the Church of England as treasurer and central council member, lived in Goroke for 11 years, and had been postmaster at Goroke after earlier stints at Swat, HMM, and Birehip. He left a widow Miss Anne Curtis and two daughters, with a funeral at the Goroke church conducted by Rev. G. Mutten.

Beadlock Between Sweden Finland and Soviet

Geneva Sunday The League of Nations has disposed of the deadlock among Sweden Finland and the Soviet over Aaland fortifications. The minutes include the respective definitions but no reenactment of the decision. Maisky complained the Soviet was not informed, while Sandler of Sweden Finland said Russia had received all information.

Diversion of the Glenelg Engineer’s Recommendation

The Chief Designing Engineer R G Knight urged the Public Works Committee to divert the Glenelg near Balmoral through Bartons Swamp to the Wimmera Mallee system at Taylor’s Lake reservoir. The plan aims to relieve the Goulburn system and meet Mallee Wimmera needs, with a proposed reservoir on the Glenelg and staged diversions to augment water supply and stock and domestic use. Further figures and conclusions to follow after ongoing investigations.
