Goroke won the premiership as Horsham Seconds narrowly missed the minor award. the season featured a record grand final takings and a special King’s Birthday premiership. NHill Seconds were rejected due to travel distances.

Wheat costs inquiry at Nbill meeting outlines cost indices
At a meeting in Nbill last week Victorian Wheat and Woolgrowers President G Evans summarized the Cost Commission. He outlined three cost definitions, noted that No 2 matched the Gepp Commission and No 3 aimed to reflect farmer equity. The panel found costs varied with bulk versus bagged wheat and that interest on borrowed capital was half the interest on farmer equity. The government disallowed a 15 percent sidelines reduction, raising the cost to 69 for bulk and bagged wheat. The Gepp Commission had allowed £125 for farmer labor, while the committee set £135, and added farm laborer wages to £12 15s per week. The five best years for growers were among the worst financially. A final report will be presented to the minister, likely recommending a cost index to reassess production costs.
