The Horsham district reports a busy church week with A J Henderson preaching at Deere and L Oliver conducting the choir at 3 pm. The Horsham P W M A held its first meeting with strong attendance, and plans for the Wimmera conference in Horsham on March 2 were discussed. East Won Wondah, Laharum, and Drung South celebrate harvest thanksgiving led by Rev Shaw from Natimuk. East WonWondah to host harvest festival and gift sale on the 17th. McKeonie Creek saw harvest thanksgiving with soloist Mire A Ballinger and preacher Kate A H Michell stressing revelation through nature and Christ as the complete revelation. A gift sale followed, and church improvements include new moisture control systems and a £50 Assembly grant, leaving £30 still owed to the Assembly.
On Sunday Rev Harold F. Allen will preach at Veetis East Remilaw and Horsham. Rev F A Jenkin preaches at Wimpigio Kalkee and Veetis East. Harvest thanksgiving services planned at Veetis East and Kalkee. Veetis East services led by Revs Allen and Jenkin. Kalkee will feature Rev Jenkin and Mr H W Radford. In Mimpinio on Sunday morning Rev F H Jenkin conducts memorial for late H W Gimest. Sunday evening at Morshaw Rev Harold F L Allen speaks on The Christian attitude regarding the Drink Drastic.
A Sunday gathering at Horsham and Pimpinio will feature Mr. Lung of Ararat as preacher with a special choir program including the Te Deum. A half yearly offering will be collected and donated items acknowledged. George Mean of Glen [ris WA] recounts a horse and bull incident and subsequent injuries to Mead during cattle work.
Theene and Mr Janeteki mark their golden wedding with a March 2 anniversary at home attended by family relatives officials of St John s and friends including Mr and Mrs W H Leng of Main Street Minvip They were wed March 9 1490 at the bride s mother s residence Laem by Rev Swan a Presbyterian minister A high tea and a presentation of a handsome clock followed the gathering.
Richard James, 43, of Rupanyap, died after a wheat bag crushed him at the mill. Interment was at Rupanyup Cemetery with pallbearers from the Royal Rupasyup Lodge. Also noted are the deaths of Miss Theresa Ann Donnelly of Chetwyn and Mrs. G P Alditt of Netherby, with funerals and local condolences. Deaths cited include brain hemorrhage and motor accident injuries.
About 30 friends of Mr L W J Gall presented him a gold mounted pipe and tobacco power before his departure. Mr and Mrs Gall left by car for Tuongamah Margaret Hail near Stawell. The will of Harriet Bremer widow left rest estate of £540 and personal property of £179 to her children with gifts to friends. a later note mentions a 1918 will date and gifts to grandchildren.
