An advertisement touts Bayer Aspirin for sore throat pain and local ailments while noting Bayer cross branding and price. It cites a Co operative Bacon Curing Company report for the year ending April 30 with 34 400 pigs, 3000 fewer than the prior year.
The Apex Club defeated the PYALC in a debate on national control of arms. Speakers Costello Tippett Griffiths Smith Surman Falloy argued for and against private enterprise in warfare, with adjudicator Mr Menadue noting stronger outlining by the Apex Club and awarding victory after points tally.
Commenting on Sir H Gepps statement the Victorino Wheat Growers Association president Mr H L Simson argues that Bendigo four years ago adopted a resolution aiming at the objective he now advocates. He notes a follow up conference with millers and merchants that failed to reach any agreement and says some millers could not be bound to undertakings not enforceable by law. He says independent spirit created parasitical industries that ride on producers and that wheat growers remain loyal despite Federal Government burdens.

David Brown a 20 year old butcher convicted of holding up two clerks and stealing 1725 pounds in Collins street on April 5 was sentenced by Mr Justice Martin to seven years imprisonment. The judge noted the audacity of the robbery and that Brown was armed with a pistol but spared the maximum term given his youth.
Melbourne report says 15 year old student Dion Gavan Flanagan was committed for trial by the Coroner Mr Grant PM on a manslaughter charge after his car struck Alice Helena Gill, a 41 year old home duties worker, on Mc Alexandra Road Moonee Ponds in the night of June. A witness stated Flanagan’s car was travelling about 40 mph and knocked the woman several yards.
