Mrs W M Howell Howe travels to Horsham for a week or two to collect funds for the Burwood Boys work. The home, established under the Charities Act, aids destitute boys with housing training and aims to place youths into suitable posts and education through donations.
The opening of the new St. Michael's recreation ground at the old Horsham golf links was led by Bellarat Dr. J O Collins. Bishop O Collin s named it Coughlin Park. Local officials Mayor C W Lawrence parish priest Father O Connell and Cr awrene voiced thanks and pledged council cooperation. Dr Lawrence praised the project and Bishop O Collins hoped it would one day be the diocese headquarters.
Enthusiasm ran high at the annual meeting of the Women's Auxiliary of the Horsham Agricultural Society in Horsham. One hundred fifty sections were included in pavilion classes covering horticulture, farm, dairy, garden produce, culinary and fancy work. The secretary Mrs. H A Roe reported higher entries than last year and judges praised the exhibits, especially the towers. The group urged members to contribute to the National Show and decided to renovate the pavilion for the special occasion. Officers elected: President Mrs. P Hennessy, vice presidents Mrs. E J Keating and Mrs. F Crafter, secretary Mrs. H A Roe, assistant secretary and treasurer Mrs. Sid Smith, executive committee Mesdames Voight, Schwenessen, Sanders and Pelchen.
