Widow seeks damages in Horsham motor accident case

In Horsham County Court Lucie Barker for her son Peter sued James Kell for 498 pounds claiming negligent driving after a wheel collapse caused a car to overturn near Stawell in August. The judge ruled for the defendant, finding no negligence.

Audit report highlights arrears and revenue gaps at trust meeting

The auditor Mr C Burke certified books as correct but flagged arrears in rates and meter charges rising from £909 16 6 in 1940 to £1018 10 11 by December last, with 24 percent of full rate revenue outstanding. Depreciation funds remained invested. total revenue missed estimate by £, while general revenue balance fell to £17 020 4. The commission warned of potential legal action over arrears and urged ministerial permission before any large expenditure. The finance committee was urged to address arrears.
