Naval Bill Passes Amid Tight Divisions In Parliament

The Naval Bill reached final passage with a 100 to 68 vote after a late division on its third reading. Laurier failed to win support for a six month hoist. Conservatives and Liberals shifted with party lines. McLean backed the government. Nationalists largely opposed, while debate highlighted defence and Empire commitments and calls for stronger Canadian aid.

Western Crop Prospects in Okandian Prairie Seeding Nears End

Reports from 200 points in the Okandian prairie west show seeding virtually finished. About 60 percent of wheat up with some stands inches high. many fields through ground. Some wheat frozen by weather but moisture expected to start and push crops into June or July. Percent seeded: 50 of nuts and 25 of barley. plowing uneven due to frosts. season two weeks later than 2012 yet overall fair condition and demand for warm bright weather.

Re-Adjust Boundary Proposal With Canada for Alaska Coast

European financiers to fund Mexican railway repairs

A May 17 Mexican government loan of 85 million dollars is understood to have been arranged in Paris to restore railways in the country. The funds are not yet available but are expected to be released through a government process and are tied to prior repairs and pump uses.

Arbitration question over half million lumber claim

The International Arbitral Tribunal weighs a Canadian demand of about 500000 for 68500 feet of lumber used to build Eagle City Kansas military barracks. Canada says the US bought the timber from Howard Mountain who cut it from Canadian land without permit or payment and then left the country.
