A Grand Forks dispatch from February 26 reports a surge in Hedley City mining activity with the Nickel Plate operating 110 stamps and shipping high grade concentrates to Keremes for rail export. Nearby properties like Golden Zone, Bradshaw, and Kingston are also starting up while the Great Northern Railway builds a 20 mile track between Keremeos and Hedley City. May 1 is targeted for rail reach to Hedley City as contractors work across five camps and face river crossings and rock grading delays.
