Westminster hockey lacrosse team retains the Minto Cup after a 10 4 victory in the opening game against Montreal. The two game series determines the champion, and with a six goal lead, Westminster appears favored to clinch the trophy in the rematch next Saturday.
The Le Roi mine near Rossland has announced a permanent shutdown after periods of inactivity since March 1900 and renewed exploration since October. Despite periodic ore shipments and renewed fundraising by ASI McMillan, management reports no clear path to sustained production, with only a brief continuation possible before operations end.
The Hudson Bay Insurance Co held its annual meeting in Vancouver with Manitoba and Saskatchewan shareholders well represented. President J. Bi H. Heaps and general manager OG J. The association and officials warn farmers about slash burning and campers to extinguish and properly dispose of fires to prevent disasters and timber loss.
Canadian team shines at the Bisley meet with Capt Hart McHarg tying the Prince of Wales prize for the winner and being counted out, Sergi Morris taking second in the King's prize, and Steele setting a new grand aggregate record. The overall team performance yields strong prize money.
The Princeton Coal and Land Company formerly Vermillion Forks Mining and Development proposes improvements including a chemist penton character screening system and a compressor splint at an estimated cost of 70,000 to 75,000. An auxiliary company will supply Princeton with electric light as part of the town’s growth amid rising aviation death rates.
