Murder on train near Samish station shocks Vancouver

Three Great Northern Express passengers were killed in a bandit attack near Samish station. Victims include H Adkinson of Vancouver, Thos F P of Vancouver, and R Lee of Bremerton. Bandits looted several passengers of $30 before fleeing toward the San Juan Islands as authorities offer a $5,000 reward. The incident halts near Samish, and Conductor D W Waldron helped stop the train.

Dam Shaping Up Well A Fine Week's Work For Piers

Weather favored progress on the dam project with eastern piers nearing full height. Foundations and aprons are complete, five of nine piers have forms in place, and concrete fills rise above foundations. Tracks for concrete and boulders are arranged, with work extending toward a possible second pier and west end excavation.

Blunder Triggers Dynamite Blast On Grand Trunk Express

Passengers aboard the Incoming Grand Trunk Railway express near St Romuald narrowly escaped death when a dynamite blast occurred during track work. A fuse for dynamite was lit by a construction gang just as the train passed. Windows shattered, passengers injured by flying glass, including John Parker and Swallow of St. Giles. The train was two hours late.

Churchill declines to discuss naval estimates stance
