Reports claim that Hedley Nickel Plate mined ore was sent to Trail smelter, but records show the Trail shipments belong to a Rossland camp claim unrelated to Hedley. The Hedley mine ships only concentrates and annual ore totals are modest. freight rates may curb future shipments without local processing.
Ottawa reports preliminary estimates show a grain waterway from Edmonton to Winnipeg may be built along the Saskatchewan river. Officials put rough navigation work at about 15 million dollars, excluding Grand Falls locks. Dredging will be needed where depths vary from six to forty feet.
