Sydney Ernest Blackburn of Nicholson Street passed away aged 78. A textile designer and loom expert, he ran a home weaving business from his Log Cabin studio with notable work in Scottish tartans and Napier plaid. He previously studied at Bradford Technical College and later moved to Australia, contributing to charitable and patriotic causes and serving as secretary of the Host Town Bowling Club. He died at Mrs Madden’s residence with mourners in attendance.
