A reflective poem on autumn and mortality precedes a local update from Strathclair. Norman Pletcher reports health and prosperity in the district while residents engage in threshing, plastering, and new business plans. Seasonal events, religious services, and community visits fill the burgh's week as Prairie wolves roam nearby.
Fine weather returns as threshing advances with yields from 14 to 38 bushels per acre. Farmers hopeful for Crandella grain sales. Arch Reddon returns after illness. Thomas Douglas loses a horse on the 25th. Percy Warren back to health, while Mrs. Thomas and Miss Douglas are seriously ill. Mrs. Jas Wiggins home from three months’ vacation. Hamilton to help on Crandella road. Ontario plans for bachelors. Albert Warren leads wheat returns with fields up to 30 bushels per acre.
Snow vanished from northern mountains as Strathclair hunters report three moose and a cinnamon bear for Strathelsir party and Forsyth brothers of Egypt harvest three large moose including a 700 pound dressed specimen. Threshing resumes after weather delays while grain looks good. The Presbyterian church invites Rev. D Sutherland as pastor with ordination soon. Methodist minister Mr Miller opens a preaching station at Newdale circuit.
Ellenville column reports Miss L Wilson praised for leading the school and J G McConnell buying stockers as calves are watched. Voter talk hints Saskatchewan riding race and Winnipeg defeat. Threshing finished. crops decent though wheat light. Pastor McMillan moved east to Kingston College. Rev C Stewart to succeed. New houses boost district. O J White nearing completion of a fine residence. White family settled last spring. McConnell has 80 head of young cattle ready for Wednesday shipment.
In Carlingville this week the threshing season finishes with wheat and oats turning out fairly well. Mrs. Vance leaves this week.
The community records progress with a new railway, local tradesmen like Unger opening a blacksmith shop, and townsite expansion toward B H Coupe and M Crandell. Attendance at school and Sunday School remains strong, while Rev. Stewart delivers plain sermons and gains respect, as editors and local figures seek success.
