At a spring meeting of the Duarling Club discussions urged a new rink as the old one nears irreparable condition. Women’s Institute and Hockey Club funds, among others, have begun raising money while a public meeting on October 4 seeks wider community backing. A bid to host the Canadian Chautauqua October 5–12 is cited to show broad local interest and fundraising potential.

A dance will be held October 1 at 9pm in Decker Memorial Hall with admission for gents and a program of first class music by Hathaway orchestra. A Sunday School Rally drew over nine attendees despite poor roads. a pageant United for Service entertained junior members, with Rev Osterhout delivering the address. Death of John Anderson of Oakner
John Anderson of Oakner died suddenly at his brother William’s home while watering horses. A stonemason by trade he built Scotia Church and many local structures. A 65 year old bachelor, he came to Oakner 35 years ago from Banffshire Scotland and leaves three brothers and a sister. Funeral held at William Anderson’s home with Rev. S A Martin officiating. interment in Hamiota cemetery.
