World of Wheat and Farm Prosperity in Manitoba
H C L Strange notes the Canadian Wheat Board sells half export wheat to Britain at 1.5 and the other half at open market 2.05, while farmers receive 1.35. He argues 20 cent per bushel withholding lasts five years, worsening farmer balances for equipment and home needs. He cites crossarm orders from Steinbach, interior wiring shortages, and a Manitoba Power Commission survey showing record building activity in rural towns.
